Arne Kvaalen was born and raised in Montana; he majored in Art at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota and later received his M. for post-graduate work at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. He now lives in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he continues to work as a painter, having retired from 29 years of teaching art at Purdue University.
